KAJANG: Police today revealed that the nursery in Bangi involved in an alleged child abuse case has been operating without a license.
Kajang district police chief ACP Othman Nanyan said initial investigation revealed that the premise has been operating for four months now and was still in the midst of obtaining a license.
"The investigation is ongoing and the probe is focused on the authenticity of the picture showing children whose feet, hands and mouths appear to be bound, which went viral on social media," he told reporters at the district police headquarters here today.
Othman added that police have recorded statements from eight individuals including the parents of the children involved in the alleged child abuse case.
He said based on medical examinations of the children involved, they did not have any physical injuries.
"Police have also seized a few clothes which looks similar to the picture that went viral on Jan 19," he said.
Police arrested four women on Friday in relation to the alleged child abuse case.
The remand order on the nursery's manager and the three caretakers is expected to end today. (Tuesday)
The case is being probed under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
