Salleh Keruak says Kit Siang is not Najib's equal

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak today made a stinging attack on DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, saying he is not of the same level as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak to deserve a debate with him.
The Communications and Multimedia minister pointed that Lim is not even the leader of the opposition bloc, and that any talk of a debate should only arise if he is appointed as one.
"Lim has challenged Najib to a debate. Maybe he has forgotten his position in DAP. He is not even the leader of Pakatan Harapan so that does not put him at the same level as the Prime Minister, who is the Chairman of Barisan Nasional.

"If Lim is Pakatan Harapan's leader or the Shadow Prime Minister, then this gives him some leverage to demand that Najib debate him," he posted on his blog last night.

"Lim must first take over as Pakatan Harapan's leader from (Datuk Seri) Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and officially announce he is Pakatan's Shadow Prime Minister before challenging Najib to a debate," he added.

Although Salleh did not elaborate on the context of his statement, he was possibly referring to Lim's blog post on Sunday where he claimed that Najib's refusal for a public debate is proof that he has no credible reply to DAP's demand for answers Umno's "Three Nazi Big Lies".

Lim was referring to Najib's Umno presidential speech on Nov 30 where he claimed Najib had accused DAP of being anti-Malay and anti-Islam, that Malays would suffer if Umno loses power in the next election, and that the 14th General Elections will be a contest between Umno and DAP.
