KUALA LUMPUR: The withdrawal of the US from the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) is not incrementally negative to Malaysia, according to Eastspring Investments Bhd.
Chief investment officer Rudie Chan said it does not impact trade barriers too much in terms of Malaysia's exports, adding that intra-Asian trade for Malaysia is more significant than Malaysia-US trade transactions.
"The impact without TPP is not as profound as what people think," he told a press conference after presenting the 2017 market outlook here this morning.
He said Vietnam tends to lose out more than its peers among emerging economies.
