SOMETIMES, it’s hard to find the words to describe a book that hits all the right buttons, other than “it’s inspiring” and that it was “a brilliant read”.
But even that wouldn’t be complete. Two By Two is all the above and more.
The protagonist is an ordinary guy, ordinary enough that the reader would be able to relate to him easily, and that makes this story all the more poignant.
Russell Green has it all. A stunning wife, a successful career as an advertisement executive, and an adorable five-year-old daughter. You could say that the world is his oyster.
But then, in a matter of months, after Russ decides to launch his own business and encounters all the usual career challenges, his wife suddenly leaves him, and the bewildered man finds himself floundering, trying to adapt to a baffling reality.
Fortunately, he has the support of his wise older sister Marge, and slowly but surely, he learns what it truly means to be a father.
Then, an unexpected encounter with an old flame causes him to contemplate a taking a second chance at love.
But first, his priority is to shelter his daughter from the consequences of the changes in their lives.
You probably know what to expect a few chapters in, but by that time, author Nicholas Sparks has weaved his familiar magic in such a way that there is no way you are going to put the book down.
Not only does he makes you think about love and relationships with this book but it also revolves around the idea of family, and the different ways its members could show their love.
Needless to say, Two By Two is a bewitching read, and will blow you away. Keep some tissues handy.
