16 schools in Pahang, 22 in Kelantan closed due to floods

KUANTAN: The number of schools temporarily closed due to floods has increased to 16, involving six districts in the state.
Pahang Education director, Datuk Rosdi Ismail said another 14 schools were also used as temporary relief centres but the sessions in these schools proceeded as usual.
"Sixteen schools that were closed are in Kuantan, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Lembing, SK Sungai Emas, SK Nadak, SK Bukit Kuin, SJK(T) Ladang Reman, SK Panching and SMK Sungai Lembing.
"In Lipis the affected schools are SK Chegar Perah, SK Kuala Kenong, SK Jeram Landak, SK Limau Purut while in Temerloh (SK Paya Luas, SK Penderas, SK Ladang Mentakab, SK Jenderak Selatan) and Maran in SK Ulu Luit," he said in a statement here today.
Rosdi said the schools were closed due to flooded roads besides being used as temporary relief centres, involving 2,947 pupils, 318 teachers and 64 support groups.
Meanwhile another 14 schools also used as temporary relief centres involved Kuantan district, namely SK Kempadang, SK Beserah and SMK Pandan.
In Pekan the schools are SK Seri Biram, SK Seri Terentang, SK Sinar Mutiara, SMK Peramu Jaya; in Lipis (SK Cegar Perah, SMK Merapoh, SK Kechor Tui, SK Pagar Sasak); in Raub (SK Tanjung Perah), in Maran (SK Senggora) and in Jerantut (SK Teh).
Meanwhile in KOTA BARU, the State Education Department in a statement here today said 22 schools will be closed in Kelantan tomorrow due to the flood disaster in the state.
The closures involved 5,644 students and 646 teachers from seven schools in Pasir Mas, four in Tumpat, six in Kuala Krai, three in Tanah Merah and two in Gua Musang. — Bernama
