KUALA LUMPUR: Four suspects have been arrested for allegedly being linked to a murder of an Indian national over a RM300,000 debt at Jalan Kasipillay here.
Sentul district police chief ACP R. Munusamy said the suspects, all locals aged between 18 and 33 years, were picked up at various locations within the scene of the crime.
He said police were looking for a suspect who is still at large.
"In the 10am incident on Jan 19, passers-by found the 42-year-old Indian national at Jalan Kasipillay in a weak condition and immediately alerted Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for medical assistance.
"Some 20 minutes after that, the man was pronounced dead by doctors from HKL and a preliminary post-mortem showed the victim suffered 51 bruises all over his body," he said.
Munusamy said the victim, identified as Joseph Kishore Gilbert, was an employee in an oil and gas company.
Following the incident and a tip-off, police picked up four individuals on the same day of the murder where two of them were from the same oil and gas company while the remaining two were from the medical fraternity.
"Following interrogation, we believe the victim was beaten up with wires over a debt amounting to RM300,000," added Munusamy.
He said police are also looking for a 27-year-old suspect who is at large to facilitate investigations.
The suspects have been remanded under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder until Thursday.
Meanwhile, another suspect was arrested on Monday to facilitate investigations into a night club brawl in Mont Kiara on Saturday, which led to the death of a 22-year-old man.
Munusamy said so far eight suspects have been arrested in KL and Kajang.
He said police are still looking for the 22-year-old main suspect who stabbed the deceased and four other suspects to facilitate the probe.
Munusamy noted that the deceased also possesses previous records and has been arrested several times for various offences.
On early Saturday morning, the victim was stabbed in a scuffle at a night club in Mont Kiara and later died.
It was learnt that the victim, along with two friends, went to the entertainment centre at 4am.
While they were dancing, the victim accidentally knocked into a man at a nearby table and a fight ensued.
During the brawl, the victim was stabbed in his chest, while his friend sustained injuries on his chest and the right side of his head.
The victim was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead at 9.30am.
