Golden chariot to make trial run tomorrow

GEORGE TOWN: Devotees and members of the public will be able to catch a glimpse of the new golden chariot during its trial run tomorrow.
According to Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Hilltop Temple chairman R. Subramaniam, morning prayers will be conducted first before the trial run commences.
"We will take the chariot from the top to the foothill of the temple and the procession of the trial run will proceed to the designated roads," he said during a press conference at the temple management office today.
Subramaniam said the 3km trial run will start at about 10am at the temple grounds.
He said the trial run procession will involve Lorong Air Terjun, Jalan Ayer Rajah, Jalan Macalister, Jalan Residensi, Jalan Utama and Jalan Kebun Bunga.
He said no road will be closed during the trial run procession and the temple committee have obtained permission from the police.
Meanwhile in the same press conference, Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) chairman Dr. P Ramasamy said more police personnel will be stationed during Thaipusam this year to ensure the safety of devotees.
