GEORGE TOWN: The recent claims by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on the state government neglecting the welfare of Muslims was aimed at covering up the weaknesses of the Kelantan government, said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix).
Lim took Hadi to task, saying the PAS-led Kelantan government had failed to build homes for flood victims in the state since three years ago.
He said flash floods in Kelantan had worsened due to illegal logging and deforestation which caused the east coast state to be seriously hit by floods.
He also hit out at Hadi claiming that the latter was supporting Umno rather than Pakatan Harapan (PH) which comprises of opposition parties.
"It does not make sense as it will cause PAS to lose Kelantan in the end," he told reporters in Komtar today.
Lim advised Hadi and the Islamist party to strive hard to improve Kelantan's state administration to ensure PAS will not lose its grip in the next general election.
State Religious Affairs committee chairman Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim also refuted Hadi's claims.
He said the state's allocations for Islamic religious affairs and schools had gone up under the current state government.
While Lim who said Hadi's comments were regrettable, said he would let facts speak for itself.
