Ex-navy senior officer couple sentenced to jail

IPOH: A husband and wife who were former senior officers of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) were each jailed and fined in the Anti-Graft Court here yesterday after they changed their plea to guilty on all counts involving graft.
Judge S. Indra Nehru ordered Lieutenant-Commander Rizalman Ghazali, 38, to be jailed for nine months and fined RM20,000 for all charges after he pleaded guilty to four counts of graft.
His wife, Lieutenant-Commander Rozlin Mustafa, 35, who also pleaded guilty on two counts, was sentenced to six months jail and fined RM10,000.
Both were ordered to serve their sentences simultaneously and with immediate effect.
Rizalman pleaded guilty to four counts of receiving a selection of precious objects totalling RM420,852 which were carried out in three different places between Oct 15, 2014 and Jan 2, 2015, and was charged under Section 28 (1) (c) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 read together with Section 165 of the Penal Code.
Rozlin also pleaded guilty to two counts of accepting a selection of precious objects totalling RM230,011 at an Affin Bank branch in Sitiawan on Oct 15, 2014 and Jan 2, 2015 under Section 165 of the Penal Code.
