KUALA LUMPUR: The main suspect in the murder of a victim in a night club brawl in Mont Kiara on Saturday was arrested today to facilitate investigations into the incident.
Sentul district police chief ACP R. Munusamy said so far nine suspects have been arrested in KL and Kajang.
He said upon a tip-off, police arrested the main culprit in a restaurant in Taman Mutiara, Cheras, here at 2.45am.
He said police are also looking for two more suspects to facilitate the investigation.
On early Saturday morning, the victim was stabbed in a scuffle at a night club in Mont Kiara and later died.
It was learnt that the victim, along with two friends, went to the entertainment centre at 4am.
While they were dancing, the victim accidentally knocked into a man at a nearby table and a fight ensued.
During the brawl, the victim was stabbed in his chest, while his friend sustained injuries on his chest and the right side of his head.
The victim was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead at 9.30am.
The deceased also possesses previous records and has been arrested several times for various offences.
On an unrelated case, Munusamy said a 20-year-old man's body was found near Selayang wholesale market after he is believed to have beaten by a group of men in Ampang.
Police were alerted about the discovery of the body at 9am on Saturday by passers-by.
"He was apparently seen sitting by the roadside minutes before he was found dead," Munusamy added.
He said the body was sent to Selayang hospital for post mortem and results later revealed that victim had died of blunt injuries at the back of his head.
Preliminary investigations found that the victim was earlier beaten up by three men in a motorcycle workshop in Tasik Permai, Ampang after he is believed to have attempted to steal batteries from the premises.
"The victim tried stealing a motorcycle battery from the shop. The owner of the shop with his two staff beat the suspect using helmets before chasing him away from the premise," he told reporters after attending a police function in City police headquarters here today.
He said the incident took place a night before the discovery of the body.
The three suspects, including the shop owner who is a local, were nabbed yesterday at their shop.

Munusamy added that the victim managed to escape and rode off on a motorcycle before pulling up at the side of the road.
Munusamy said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
