PUTRAJAYA: Suspended Majlis Amanah Raya (Mara) chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa spent around four hours being quizzed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over allegations of graft and abuse of power.
Annuar, who spoke to reporters as he was leaving the MACC headquarters here, said he was questioned on several issues, including his involvement in Pelabuhan Mara Berhad (PMB) and on the sponsorship of the Kelantan football team.
"I have provided information to the best of my ability. The rest is up to MACC and the investigation team," he said, but refused to divulge more details on the questioning.
Annuar, who is also Umno information chief, stressed that he would not run away from his responsibility and said that he would be assisting any probe opened against him.
Asked whether he would be meeting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak over the situation, Annuar said he would not want to burden the latter.
"Whatever that is being investigated has nothing to do with the prime minister ... I was the one accused and MACC is an independent body," he said.
"This is why when I was told to meet the prime minister first, I declined. I do not want people to raise any allegations," he added.
He also said that he was prepared to be summoned again by the MACC in the future.
Annuar had earlier arrived at the MACC building at 9am to get his statement recorded over the allegations, just a day after arriving from New Zealand.

Upon his arrival at the KL International Airport last night, Annuar said that he would give his full cooperation to the MACC, stressing that "there is nothing that needs to be hidden".
Meanwhile, MACC in a statement said that the commission had recorded statements of more than five individuals to assist with the investigation on Annuar.
It also urged the public not to make any speculation on the probe and to provide space for the MACC to conduct its duty.
On Tuesday, the special meeting of the Mara Council Members suspended Annuar from his position as MARA chairman and chairman of Pelaburan Mara Berhad (PMB) effective immediately.
The suspension was initiated to enable Mara's internal audit to investigate several matters including the PMB and Universiti Kuala Lumpur's sponsorship for the Kelantan football team, The Red Warriors.
Subsequently, the MACC had confirmed on the same day that it had opened investigation papers to probe the allegation of misappropriation and abuse of power against Annuar.
