Flood victims in Johor, Pahang decrease this morning

JOHOR BARU: The number of residents being sheltered at six flood evacuation centres in Segamat as at 8am is 186, compared to 192 at 8pm last night.

The victims comprising 41 families are staying at Balai raya Kampung Pogoh Tengah, Sekolah Agama Gemerih, Sekolah Kebangsaan Spang Loi, Kompleks Penghulu Pogoh, Balai raya Kampung Sanglang and Balai raya Kampung Bukit Senggir.

In a statement here today, Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said a collapsed bridge along Jalan Kampung Sungai Pinggan in Pontian had temporarily cut off road communication in the area.
Meanwhile in KUANTAN, Pahang, the flood has subsided only slightly with 953 residents from 249 families still staying at the evacuation centres as at 6am.

The number of flood victims last night was 963 from 252 families.

State Civil Defence Force director Zainal Yusoff said the number of flood victims in Pekan remained the same, at 771 comprising 200 families.

"Similarly with Maran, the number remains at three from one family while in Kuantan, the number has dropped to 179 comprising 48 families as compared to 189 from 51 families last night," he said.

Ten evacuation centres are still operating - seven in Pekan, two in Kuantan and one in Maran. — Bernama
