Russia demands apology from Fox after O'Reilly calls Putin 'killer'

MOSCOW: The Kremlin demanded an apology from US television channel Fox News on Monday because well-known commentator Bill O'Reilly described Russian leader Vladimir Putin as a "killer" in a recent interview with US President Donald Trump.
The statement was "insulting and impermissible," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in comments carried by state news agency TASS.
He insisted that Putin was due an apology from "such a respectable television network."
O'Reilly, questioning Trump's respect for Putin, emphasised in an interview broadcast on Sunday that "Putin's a killer."
Trump, who earlier in the interview touted US-Russian potential for fighting terrorism, fired back: "What, you think our country's so innocent?"
"Take a look at what we've done too. We've made a lot of mistakes. I've been against the war in Iraq from the beginning," Trump said.
"There are a lot of killers around, believe me." — dpa
