Tanjong Datu by-election campaign is heating up

LUNDU: The campaign for the Tanjong Datu state by-election, which entered its sixth day today, is heating up.
The putting up of posters, banners and flags of the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) candidate Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu is being intensified around Lundu market and Sematan town as well as the villages.
The campaign sessions by ministers are also increasing today.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (pix) is scheduled to hand over the new house keys to a recipient in Kampung Gerunggang, here.
After that, he is expected to attend the 'Jiwa Murni Programme' at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bumiputera here while Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will attend the BN Youth Village Adoption Programme at PBB operations room here.
The BN by-election manifesto will be launched by Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg at the Lundu Community Hall at 4pm today.
Before that, at 2pm, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas will hold a meeting with the local community leaders at Kampung Sungai Lundu Community Hall.
Sarawak Welfare, Women and Community Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah will meet members of the Tanjong Datu Wanita PBB branch and attend a 'tahlil' for the late Tan Sri Adenan Satem at the surau of Kampung Sebat Melayu in Sematan.
Assistant Minister for Science Research and Biotechnology Dr Annuar Rapa'ee will perform the maghrib and isyak prayers at surau Kampung Dagang. — Bernama
