SKYAVENUE is a heady destination offering not only cool, premier shopping but also three world-class gastronomic experiences.
Located some 1,740 metres above sea level in Resorts World Genting, SkyAvenue is the place to go for authentic Neapolitan Italian pizzas.
The Motorino Pizzeria brand comes straight from New York City with multiple outlets in the Big Apple, two in Hong Kong and Manila, one in Singapore, and now in Malaysia.
Motorino is bringing the spirit and flavour of Neapolitan Italian pizzas to Malaysia through the use of authentic ingredients and traditional cooking methods, served in a rustic atmosphere.
“The whole wood-burning pizza ovens were brought in from New York ... they were not assembled here,” said master chef Khairul Azhar Wahid.
He added that almost all the ingredients, from the tomato sauce to the cheese and flour used, were all imported to ensure that the resulting flavours are authentic and as it should be.
This is most evident in the Margherita pizza. Topped with delicious tomato sauce, rich mozzarella, flavourful basil, savoury pecorino, and extra virgin olive oil, this is the most basic of all the pizzas to reacquaint you with the flavours of Italy.
However, for a more Malaysian taste, the Amatriciana marries the taste of Asia with the flavours of Italy to create a pizza for both the timid and the adventurous.
It’s a spicy pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, chicken sausage, scallion, pecorino, and fresh chillies.
According to SkyAvenue executive chef Andrea Zorcolo, the star pizza at the Motorino Pizzeria is the Arugula & Bresaola as its mix of flavours is the best illustration of Italian food and real pizza.
On the other hand, if a casual sophisticated experience is what you seek, head to Asia’s first Burger & Lobster outlet.
The UK-based chain offers burgers made with 100% Australian beef served in a baked sesame seed brioche bun, and topped with beef bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, the restaurant’s own in-house pickles, and drizzled in Burger & Lobster’s secret sauce.
Of course, as its name suggests, there are also lobsters. Brought in live from Canada, the lobsters are steamed or grilled with either clarified butter or the restaurant’s famed lemon and garlic butter, and served with chips and salad.
Burger & Lobster general manager Fabrizio Lippi assures guests that their dining experience at this outlet in SkyAvenue will be on par with other Burger & Lobster outlets in other parts of the world.
The outlet’s best-seller is the pairing of its Chilli Lobster dish with the Time Keeper drink.
The Chilli Lobster, which is exclusive to this outlet in SkyAvenue, is based on the Singaporean chilli crab recipe.
The gravy-soaked dish combines the signature Burger & Lobster taste with local flavours.
Unlike other meals, it is served with a special signature brioche.
To go with this dish is the uniquely Asian Time Keeper, which is a black tea-based drink given a twist with calamansi lime, kaffir lime leaf, and palm sugar.
Inspired by the local iced lime tea, the drink is served in a plastic bag hung on a hook with a ribbon and made to look like one of the local takeaway drinks.
For the coffee connoisseur looking for a great cuppa and some French food, Cafés Richard has just opened its world’s first cafe at SkyAvenue.
This number one coffee roaster in France serves over 2.4 million cups of its coffees daily back home in cafés, bistros, and restaurants from chic Saint-Germain-des-Prés to hilly Montmartre and historical Grands Boulevards.
At SkyAvenue, this traditional French-style coffee roaster aims to replicate the same joie de vivre of its homeland.
The key to good coffee, said Cafés Richard outlet ambassador and cafelier (coffee expert) Thibault K. Bidi, is balance.
Every aspect of the preparation is done with great care, from the weight of the coffee to the temperature of the water. Bidi treats every cup like a personal masterpiece and his passion has spread to his staff.
The selection of coffee beans ranges from the exclusive Perle Noir, specially blended Massaya, to single region coffees like the Ethiopian Moka Yirgacheffe and the Sumatra Orang Utan.
There’s also a choice of the french press, Chemex, syphon, or cold drip to prepare the brew.
Th outlet also offers an extensive range of teas including black, white, green, rooibos and herbal from India, China, Sri Lanka, South Africa and the Alps.
Resorts World Genting hotel operations senior vice president Datuk Edward Holloway said: “What [guests] find at SkyAvenue is a distinct sense of place.
“When dining at Burger & Lobster, the idea is to transport guests to locations of other established Burger & Lobster, like the one in Hampstead.
“When guests go to Motorino, we want them to feel transported to 1920s New York, with its bold brashness and colour, while at Cafés Richard, guests can experience a Parisian sidewalk café, first hand.
“In a sense, we act as a doorway to new experiences. We are many places within one destination.”
