Police on the hunt for robbery suspect

SHAH ALAM: Police have detained a robbery suspect in Section 7 here and are on the hunt for his accomplice.
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said in the incident at midnight, policemen from the motorcycle patrol unit spotted the duo acting suspiciously near the residential area.
"They were in their 20's. One of them managed to escape while the police were conducting checks on them.
"The remaining suspect was handed over to the vehicle patrol unit (MPV) for further interrogation,"Shafien told reporters at the district police headquarters here today.
He said investigators later raided the suspects' homes and found several stolen items and house break-in equipment.
"We believe the duo were in the process of selling their stolen items.
"Among the items recovered were expensive electronic gadgets and luxury watches," added Shafien.
He said police have already initiated a manhunt for the escaped suspect, adding that he believes the duo did not act on their own.
"We believe there are other accomplices related to the suspects and the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house break-in.
