PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested three men believed to be involved in a spate of robbery and house break-in cases in the district.
Petaling Jaya District Police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said on Feb 7, acting upon a tip off, police picked up the first suspect at 11.15pm.
"Following interrogation, police arrested two other suspects at Kampung Pasir near Old Klang Road on the same day.
"Initially the suspects aged between 26 and 30 were only linked to a robbery that took place on Dec 31 last year at a residential area, where the Closed Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) footage of the incident went viral on social media," Mohd Zani told reporters at the district police headquarters here today.
He said further investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in a spate of house break-ins and a vehicle theft case in the Petaling Jaya area.
Mohd Zani said each suspect had three previous records for drug abuse.
The suspects have been remanded for seven days beginning Thursday, and the case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and robbery when armed or with attempt to cause grievous hurt.
The one minute and 36-second CCTV video recording on Dec 31 shows a woman being mugged by a robber.
In the video, a white Myvi pulls up and stops directly in front of the women' house.
A man in a yellow T-shirt and black pants suddenly exits the white car brandishing a short object and grabs the woman's handbag.
The suspect then flees the scene with another accomplice in the white Myvi.
