Group of 20 arrested for kavadis with swastika symbol

GEORGE TOWN: A group of 20 men who allegedly carried kavadis with the swastika symbol have been arrested by the police.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said acting upon a tip-off, police arrested them at Jalan Utama at 6pm yesterday.
He said six of the suspects aged between 16 and 32 tested positive for drug use.
" One of the suspects is also a wanted man for armed robbery in the district six years ago," he said in a statement today.
Three men from the group have been released on police bail while the remaining 17 have been remanded for three days to assist in investigations under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
