PAS shuts door on any chance of cooperating with PPBM

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS has firmly shut the door on any chance of the party and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) cooperating in the coming general election as long as the latter works with DAP and Amanah.

PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pix) said the party remained strong with their policies of not working together with both the parties.

"No need to wait a month. We already have our policies. Our policy is we do not work with parties that have relations with DAP and Amanah.

"We have already made a decision, all parties that have relations with DAP and Amanah ... we will not work with them," he said.

"If you have ties with DAP and Amanah, habislah (finished)," he said after opening a charity convention organised by PAS at Auditorium Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) here.

Hadi was responding to PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement that PAS will be given a month to decide on working together to ensure straight fights in the coming general election.

Hadi also rejected any meeting with Mahathir to discuss the issue.

PAS and Bersatu had initiated talks on Feb 1 to discuss cooperation between both parties in facing the upcoming 14th General Election.

The meeting has succeeded in achieving an understanding between the two opposition parties, but did not indicate forming a formal coalition.

As for relations with PKR, Abdul Hadi said the party will decide on the matter during PAS upcoming Muktamar which is expected to be held on April 28 in Alor Star.

For the record, PAS still retains cooperation in the Selangor state government alongside with PKR and DAP, despite its stand not to be part of the opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan.
