SL1M to launch 2017 Open Interview Programme for job seekers

KUALA LUMPUR: To boost the participation of job seekers nationwide, the 1Malaysia Training Scheme (Skim Latihan 1Malaysia or SL1M) will launch its 2017 SL1M Open Interview Programme (Central Zone) at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here, next week.
Organised by the Economic Planning Unit in the Prime Minister's Department, SL1M is to provide opportunity for graduates marketability for employment.
SL1M secretariat head Norashikin Ismail said the 2017 inaugural programme, to be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak on Feb 21 and 22, offers 25,000 jobs and training schemes provided by more than 100 companies.

"The programme will also feature local artists, such as slapstick comedy trio, Zero comprising of three brothers Sharif Kadir Doli Sharif, Mohd Syaiful Doli Sharif and Sharif Kunal Doli Sharif and singer Faizal Tahir as programme ambassadors and icons will perform and give motivational talks to boost the confidence of participants during the programme," said Norashikin.
Speaking to reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here, yesterday, she said the vacancies and training schemes will also be opened to those at tertiary school level.
"SL1M welcomes all graduates and non-graduates to use this opportunity to improve their marketability and find a job.
We expect about 30,000 visitors to cash on this opportunity and visit the 200 booths, she said adding big companies that have confirmed participation include Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Maybank, Celcom Axiata Bhd, Malaysia Airlines Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd and Petronas.
Following next week's programme, the next leg will be in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in Gambang on March 29 and 30 followed by at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) on April 19 and 20; Alor Star, Kedah in May; Kota Belud, Sabah in July and Bandar Melaka, Malacca in August.
Urging more private company participation, Norashikin said the booths are free, all expenses covered by the organiser and participating companies will receive government incentives to cover all costs incurred through Double Tax Deduction or HRDF-SL1M Scheme.
Between 2011 and September, last year, SL1M has helped 97,000 participants get jobs.
