THE Master of PhilosophyDoctor of Philosophy in Nursing (MPhil-PhD) at The Nethersole School of Nursing, under the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a research-focused programme offered in full-time and part-time modes.
Students learn primarily through conducting original research supervised by academic members of the School. The programme contains two study streams: MPhil stream and PhD stream. Students of both streams are required to complete lecture courses, which consists of 12 units and thesis research courses, as well as attend weekly research seminars.
Besides course requirements, students are also required to submit a thesis on research work and attend an oral examination.
Through this programme, students would be able to study in an established school of nursing, with national and international links, and receive education and support from experienced academic staff as well as attend seminars given by international scholars in nursing and other disciplines.
Students would be able to apply for various local and overseas scholarships and awards, which encourage them to strive for excellence.
Admission requirements for the programme include graduating from a recognised university with a bachelor’s degree or completing a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an honours degree, as well as fulfil the English Language Proficiency Requirement stipulated by the Graduate School of CUHK.
