BACHOK: A brave attempt by a woman to nab a snatch thief ended in tragedy when she died after hitting her head on an electrical post at Kampung Pak Elong, Tangok, near here, this morning.
In the 8.15am incident, Siti Rohani Wahab, 54, died at the scene due serious head injuries.
Kelantan deputy police chief SAC Din Ahmad said the victim, who works as an assistant cook, was believed to be on her way home in Kampung Telong Kandis to her workplace at the Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) Bachok campus cafe when the incident occurred.
He said a suspect who was riding a motorcycle suddenly snatched her handbag which she had placed on the motorcycle that she was riding.
"The victim then began to chase the suspect for about 800m.
"Unable to control her vehicle at high speed, the victim then crashed her bike against an electrical post," he said today.
