Motorcycle workshop owner charged with murdering customer

KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcycle workshop owner was today charged at the Ampang Magistrate's Court here with murdering a customer of the outlet, last month.
R. Saravanan, 32, nodded that he understood the charge when it was read out to him before Magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Nor. No plea was recorded because murder cases come under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Saravanan, who is also the mechanic at the workshop, is alleged to have murdered G. Shaarunan, 19, unemployed, who is a regular customer of his, at BKS Motor Trading, in Kampung Tasek Permai, here between 7pm and 9pm on Jan 27.
The court set April 17 for re-mention.
Murder is a capital offence.
Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Zuhaini Mahamad Amin appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by counsel J. Jayarubbiny.
The accused, who was accompanied by several family members, was crying when brought into the courtroom. — Bernama
