GEORGE TOWN: Seven doctors and three individuals arrested in connection with a probe for allegedly approving medical examinations to renew public service vehicle (PSV) licences, were released on bail today.
Penang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Abdul Aziz Aban said that all the 10 suspects were released with bail of RM7,000 each.
All the doctors were arrested at about 3pm on Tuesday for suspected abuse of their profession by approving medical examinations to renew PSV licences, without examining the applicants.
A MACC raid on seven clinics in Bukit Mertajam, Batu Ferringhi, Pekan Lama, Gelugor and Prai, two premises and a private kiosk led to the arrest of seven doctors, including one who is attached to a government hospital.
The three individuals arrested were a 41-year-old woman, who is a clinic assistant while the two men are the "runners". — Bernama
