Remains of mother of Selangor MB laid to rest

KUALA LUMPUR: The remains of Che Tom Yahaya, 82, mother of Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, were buried at the Kampung Klang Gate Baru Muslim Cemetery here at 11am today.
She died at the KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital at 2.14am today from a stroke.
Azmin said his mother was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital on Oct 10 last year after suffering her first stroke.
"She had her second stroke on Saturday, which was quite serious and critical.
"She had a record of heart problems and underwent schedular treatments at the National Heart Institute but was not serious until she had the strokes," he told reporters after his mother's funeral.
He said 'tahlil' prayers would be held at his residence tonight after Isyak.
The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah was present and also performed prayer for the dead (solat jenazah).
Also present were Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar. — Bernama
