Christian Federation of Malaysia appeals for release of missing pastor

PETALING JAYA: The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) is calling on the authorities to conduct a quick and thorough investigation over the alleged abduction of Pastor Raymond Koh Keng Joo and bring to justice its perpetrators.
Its chairman Revd Dr Eu Hong Seng said the federation is deeply concerned over the issue as it understands that Koh worked closely with the Harapan Komuniti and the needy.
"The work of people of faith in such communities must be free from threats of violence and intimidation. As such we pray for the success of law enforcement and investigating officers in locating Koh and bring him to safety.
"Meantime, we hope that God would enlighten the hearts of his alleged abductors to release Koh unharmed back to his family," Eu said in a statement today.
Separately, Koh's family has appealed to any eye-witnesses to come forward to facilitate the investigation and had offered a reward amounting to RM10,000 for information leading to Koh's release.
"I would like to appeal to those who have taken my husband to return him safe and unharmed to me and my children.
"Since the abduction occurred in a residential area and in broad daylight, my family and I are prepared to offer a reward to anyone who can help shed light on this distressing incident," Koh's wife, Susanna Liew Sow Yoke said.
Koh, who was last seen wearing a polo neck beige T-shirt and dark grey pants, was abducted by a group of masked men at Jalan Bahagia, between 10.30am and 10.45am on Monday. Both Koh and the car he was driving at that time remains missing until now.
In 2011, Koh who was executive director of community group Harapan Komuniti ran into issues with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) when he organised a multi-racial charity event attended by Muslims and non-Muslims at the Damansara Utama Methodist Church here.
The event was disrupted when Jais accompanied by police raided the church following claims that the organising group had held the gathering in an attempt to allegedly entice Muslims to convert to Christianity.
The issue fizzled out due to lack of evidence on the allegations.
