JOHOR BARU: Police detained two men for allegedly robbing a Vietnamese man near the entrance of a shopping centre in Skudai yesterday.
North Johor Baru district police chief ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad said the suspects, aged 28 and 23, were arrested about half an hour after the alleged robbery.
He said the robbery occurred about 1.30 pm when the suspects, who were armed with a machete, approached the victim and assaulted him.
"One of the suspects took a wallet containing RM60 belonging to the suspect, and not happy with the amount, the other suspect took out a machete and slashed the 20-year-old victim.
"The police, who were in the area heard the victim's cries, went to his aid and managed to arrest the suspects not far away," he said in a statement here today.
He said police seized a machete, a knife and two wallets, including one containing RM60, from the suspects, both with previous records.
The suspects, both tested positive for drug, will be in remand until Feb 25, he added. — Bernama
