In the mood for love

SWISS watchmaker Rado recently introduced the Centrix Open Heart timepiece at its new corporate boutique in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Inspired by the legend of the magpie bridge, the Centrix Open Heart features symbolic elements that represent the Chinese Valentine’s story: two lovers separated by fate who are only able to meet once a year, when all the world’s magpies would fly and form a bridge to reunite the star-crossed lovers on the seventh night of the seventh moon.
The unique dial of the Centrix Open Heart leaves the bottom half of the timepiece’s mechanics completely exposed, displaying the beauty and complexity of the Swiss automatic movement through an upside down crescent cut-out which represents the bridge of magpies upon which the lovers stand.
A stylised keyhole at noon symbolises the seventh moon under which the lovers meet, further revealing the beating heart of the mechanical movement. Diamonds represent the stars in the sky, and the two hands represent the lovers themselves.
Rado also offers two equally legendary open heart models for the gents – one with chocolate brown high-tech ceramic middle links, and the other with a chocolate-hued leather bracelet. Tidily enclosed in sleek 38mm cases, both models also feature cut-out dials that strategically reveal key elements of the pulsating Swiss movement.
