Madinah Mohamad to be new Auditor-General: Ali Hamsa

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad (pix) will become the country's new Auditor-General on Thursday, replacing Tan Sri Ambrin Buang, said Chief secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa, today.
In a statement, Ali said that Madinah's appointment as the 10th Auditor-General, will be for two years beginning on Feb 23 as Ambrin ends his tenure on Feb 22.
"The government records its highest gratitude and thanks to Tan Sri Ambrin Buang for his service since his appointment as Auditor-General on Feb 23, 2006, especially his efforts in transforming and restructuring the government's auditing system and reinforcing its financial management systems," Ali said.
The appointment of Madinah, he said was made in accordance to Clause (1) Article 105 of the Federal Constitution, whereby the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of the Prime Minister and after consultation with the Conference of Rulers has consented to the appointment for a period of two years from Feb 23, 2017 until Feb 22, 2019.
Madinah, 60, holds a Bachelors Degree (Honours) in Political Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Development and a Doctorate in the field of Human Resource Management from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
She was the former secretary-general for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and Ministry of Education before retiring on Sept 3, last year.
