'MH370 Families' hopes govt to continue search

KUALA LUMPUR: After four years, families and next-of-kins' of the ill-fated MH370 flight still hope the government will continue its search despite the recently announced suspension.
In their Facebook page 'MH370 Families', they called on supporters to join them in solidarity at Publika along Jalan Dutamas on March 4 from 2pm onwards.
In a statement titled 'SEARCH ON 3.0: MH370 is Not It's History, It's the Future. Fly Safely', they urged Malaysians to come in solidarity with them once again this year at their annual MH370 remembrance event.
"It is our desire that focus remains on the critical theme of 'Search On'. While the search for MH370 has been suspended, it is our fervent plea that the search is resumed. We believe that the search for MH370, and for answers to what led to its disappearance goes beyond the families' need for a credible explanation and closure," they said.
They added that the question of aviation safety is a matter that is relevant as many take to the skies every single day.
This year the event will see an art exhibition with original art pieces from more than 20 artists. Prominent speakers from the field of aviation are expected to attend.
In January, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai reportedly said that search officials and experts will continue to analyse all available data to find MH370.
He said they suspended the search so that they can go back to the drawing board and revisit the deep sea water search data, debris data, drifting pattern and satellite data.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is to analyse whatever data they have while the Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organisation will continue to analyse the drifting pattern of debris.
Liow, upon his return from Perth recently, had said that the Australian authorities had agreed to continue to work closely with Malaysia to solve what has been described as the greatest mystery in modern aviation history.
Malaysia, Australia and China issued a joint communique announcing the suspension of the search for the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft after unsuccessfully scouring 120,000 sq km of the southern Indian Ocean. Flight MH370 vanished from the radar with 239 passengers and crew members on board while en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014.
