'I Love Penang' is not party's election slogan: DAP Youth

GEORGE TOWN: Penang DAP Youth today dismissed claims that "I Love Penang" would be used as the party's election slogan.

State Youth publicity secretary Wong Yuee Harng said "Delivering Penang's Future" would be the party's chosen theme for the 14th general election.

He said there was no need for the fuss surrounding the "I Love Penang" campaign launched by the state in protest against a suggestion to turn Penang into a federal territory.

Wong nonetheless said the party may consider using the slogan in their election campaign if the state opposition keeps on harping on it.

"We just might consider it," the Penang Island City Council councillor said in a press conference with Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik.

In a separate press conference, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix) said an additional 1,000 slots are available for the "I Love Penang" run on March 12 at Lebuh Pantai.

He said the state decided to open up more spaces after the initial 4,000 slots allocated were filled in four days after registration opened on Feb 12.

"I will also be running," he added.

Lim also announced the Ministry of Tourism will be hosting a Chinese New Year Open House on Feb 24 at Jalan Padang Kota Lama.
