LANGKAWI: The police will impose tight security during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition from March 21 to 25.
Kedah Police chief Datuk Asri Yusoff said 871 officers and men, including traffic policemen, would be mobilised to ensure security at the international event.
"The fourth meeting was held yesterday to streamline the various aspects of security in conjunction with LIMA 2017," he said at a passing-out parade of a basic policing training programme for constables at the Langkawi Police Training Centre here today.
A total of 299 trainees completed the four-month programme which began in Oct last year.
Asri said the police would also be directly involved in the LIMA 2017 Search and Rescue Training from Feb 27 to March 2.
The exercise, he said, was to prepare a standard operation procedure in the event of any accident, such as the crash of two Jupiter aerobatics team aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force during an aerobatic display at LIMA 2015. — Bernama
