D'Herbs company fined RM11,000 for misleading advertisements

KUALA LUMPUR: D'Herbs Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd was fined RM11,000 by the Magistrate's Court here today for promoting two products through misleading advertisements.
The company represented by its branch manager pleaded guilty to two charges and was fined RM5,000 on the first count and RM6,000 on the second count by magistrate Zuhair Rosli.
On the first charge, the company claimed that its "Jus Perawan Gold" could "help improve the immunisation system", an assertion contrary to the provisions under Section 17(1)(d) of the Food Act 1983.
On the second charge, the company claimed that its "Air Masyur" "could help improve blood circulation because it contained gingko biloba in honey", a misleading assertion, under the same Act.
The company committed the offences through The New Straits Time Press (Malaysia) Berhad, Balai Berita, 31 Jalan Riong here on Aug 21, 2015 and March 30, 2016.
Prosecuting officer Jeffry Sani Sahimi represented the Selangor Health Department. — Bernama
