KUALA LUMPUR: As of last Sunday, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) collected a total of RM2.84 million in traffic compound fines after offering special discounted rate to offenders since Dec 1 last year.

The amount involved 130,927 compound notices.

In a statement today, DBKL said there were 3.2 million outstanding compounds last year and advised the public to take advantage of the special discounted rate currently offered.

"The failure to pay the compound will result in court action and warrant of arrest for the purpose of blacklisting the offenders," it said.

The statement also said that as of Feb 19, a total of 4,459 offenders had been blacklisted by the Road Transport Department.

City Hall has offered a special traffic compound rate as low as RM10 from Dec 1 last year to Feb 28 to help the public pay their compounds.

For unpaid traffic compounds from 2007 till 2011, the charge is only RM10 per compound, while offences committed from 2012 till 2014, offenders will be charged RM20 per compound.

For offences from 2015 onwards, the compound is RM30. — Bernama
