Jobseekers flock 1Malaysia Training Scheme Open Interview Programme for opportunities

KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds of unemployed graduates and school leavers took the opportunity to look for jobs at the two-day 1Malaysia Training Scheme (Skim Latihan 1Malaysia or SL1M) Open Interview Programme at Putra World Trade Centre.
SL1M secretariat head Norashikin Ismail told theSun that the main objective of the inaugural programme is to provide opportunity for graduates' to market themselves for the jobs offered by the participating companies.
"Apart from the 25,000 vacancies, some of the 100 over participating companies also provides training schemes for interested job seekers regardless of age, education level or working experiences," she said.
She added the SL1M welcomed everyone to use this opportunity to improve their marketability and find a job since there are lots of major companies participating which includes Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Maybank, Celcom Axiata Bhd, Malaysia Airlines Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd and Petronas.
The two day SL1M was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak on Tuesday. He also launched the Faith & SL1M Book at PWTC.
Besides job vacancies, Norashikin said some 65,000 posts were also made available for those who would like to become volunteers for the Malaysia Civil Defence Force.
"There were close to 90,000 vacancies available for everyone came," she added.
The next leg will be in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in Gambang on March 29 and 30 followed by at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) on April 19 and 20; Alor Star, Kedah in May; Kota Belud, Sabah in July and Bandar Melaka, Malacca in August.
Many of the job seekers told theSun that they were happy with the many job offers that came their way.
