KUALA LUMPUR: Pemuda Amanah Nasional will host a roundtable meeting next month to discuss whether the Projek Perumahan 1Malaysia (PR1MA) has really benefited the people.
Pemuda Amanah Nasional Housing Committee Chairman Mohamad Ammar Atan said the recent statement by Umno Youth towards the Special PR1MA End Financing Scheme (SPEF) does not reflect the burden the Rakyat is facing.
"Any scheme introduced by the government must be in line with the economic reality of what the people are facing. The scheme should not leave a bad impact in the long run," he said, adding that the meeting, attended by experts from the real estate, banking industry, academicians, will discuss whether the scheme benefits the people.
The outcome of the meeting will be sent to the government for a review.
Ammar said although PR1MA was meant to benefit the B40 segment in buying a house, the housing scheme had raised the amount of household income for applicants.
"PR1MA has been raising the minimum household income since 2012," he said,
At present, he added, the household income to apply for PR1MA is RM15,000, and this is clear indication that the scheme is not meant for the low and middle income group but rather the high income bracket or the T20.
