KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall is to give a new coat of paint to all buildings of the People's Housing Project (PPR) and Public Housing (PA) in the federal capital.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said tonight the painting job was expected to be completed by July.
"We will use a uniform colour. However, the colour has yet to be selected. The allocation (for the painting job) comes under the 1Malaysia Maintenance Fund," he said when officiating at the 1Federal Territory Feast in the Batu parliamentary constituency here.
He said the beautification project would cover 33 PPR and 37 PA areas in the city.
Tengku Adnan said City Hall would also upgrade the infrastructure at all the PPR and PA facilities, such as repairing lifts, providing additional car parking bays and installing CCTV cameras in lifts.
"Various initiatives have been taken to provide comfort to the people in Kuala Lumpur. As such, I hope the people would appreciate the facilities and take good care of them," he said.
He also said it was hoped that the 1Federal Territory Feast would foster goodwill and promote the spirit of togetherness among the various communities.
The event, which incorporated cultural dances and street music, attracted more than 3,000 city dwellers.
Tengku Adnan handed out aid contributed by the Batu Umno Division to 220 needy people and distributed the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) to 10 representatives from the constituency. — Bernama
