He nonetheless said a working paper will still have to be submitted to the State Exco for the final decision.
Mubarak said the solar farm will be sited on a 20.2ha plot at phase three of the 171ha landfill which is owned by the two councils.

He said the proposed farm was capable of producing 20 megawatt (MW), enough to power 12,400 homes.

"The energy generated from the solar farm will be sold to TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad)," he said when asked about the issue after a City Council meeting today.

On a separate issue, City Council Financial Committee alternate chairman Joseph Ng said the City Council has decided to continue to absorb the RM1.20 fee imposed by Pos Malaysia on ratepayers paying their assessment at the post office.

He said this will cost the City Council about RM80,000 a year.
