MACC remands lieutenant colonel, staff sergeant for seven days

KUANTAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today obtained a seven-day remand order for a lieutenant colonel and a staff sergeant to facilitate investigations into alleged corruption in the approval of multiple projects over the past several years.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nurunaim Abdullah here today.
The 56-year-old lieutenant colonel was detained at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Temerloh, Pahang, at 2.30pm yesterday after he turned up to give evidence on the case.
He was arrested for allegedly taking bribe from contractor proxies including a company owned by his father.
The 44-year-old staff sergeant, on the other hand, was picked up in Kuantan, Pahang, at 8.40pm to facilitate further investigations into the case under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Datuk Azam Baki, when contacted, confirmed the matter. — Bernama
