KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Tower, Malaysia's most recognisable and popular landmark, has heightened security for all potential threats to ensure safety of businesses within the premise and also that of visitors and tourists.
KL Tower Chief Executive Officer Meor Shahril Anuar Ahmad Rathuan (pix) said security has always been their top priority and it has been heightened ever since the ISIS threat was raised.
"We have a very comprehensive security standard operating procedure at all levels of the KL Tower. The security moves include tickets scanned at the entrance," he told reporters after flagging off the KL Rush Explorace 2017 here today.
He added that apart from 120 CCTV cameras surrounding the tower, auxillary police are also stationed at all levels and at strategic locations to alert the management of any untoward incidents or potential threats.
"We do not allow large bags to be brought up to the Tower," said Meor Shahril Anuar when responding to a press inquiry on security measures undertaken in light of the North Korea leader's half-brother, Kim Jong-Nam's assassination that is currently being investigated by the authorities.
The KL Tower is operated utilising comprehensive state-of-the-art safety and security based on global standards and practices.
