Five friends charged with drug trafficking

KUALA LUMPUR: Five friends were charged in the Selayang Magistrate's Court here today with trafficking in almost 5.9kg of methamphetamine.
However, no plea was recorded from them after the charge was read out before Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri.
They are E.Saravanan, 38, S.Kumanan, 35, E. Harri Bhaaskhar, 34, N.D.Anantha Raj, 38 and M.Murusumaran, 36, who are jointly charged with trafficking in 5,862gm of the drug at a factory at Jalan SMS, Section 19 of the Rawang Industrial Area, Rawang Perdana, at 1.10am last Feb 14.
The charge, under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same law, provides the death sentence upon conviction.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Muhammad Faiz Abu Samah prosecuted, while lawyer Tiew Poh Nee represented Harri Bhaaskhar. The other four accused were not represented.
