Malaysian student drowns in New Zealand

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian student drowned in Lake Karapiro in New Zealand, the Foreign Ministry confirmed today.
The body of Abdul Amzar Azim Azmi was discovered by local authorities this afternoon after he went missing at 3.30pm yesterday while he was out with his friends at the lake, it said in a statement.
According to the statement, officials from the Malaysian High Commission in Wellington had gone to Hamilton to liaise with local authorities and render necessary help.
The ministry expressed its condolences to the family and friends of Abdul Amzar. — Bernama
