SERDANG: Police have nabbed three individuals after they assaulted and stabbed four tow-truck men along the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) near Bandar Puteri here.
The incident was triggered after a car driven by a 24-year-old man skidded and became involved in an accident at the LDP on Sunday at 7am.
Serdang district police chief ACP Megat Mohamad Aminudin Megat Alias said the driver of the vehicle realised that four tow truck call men were already at the scene minutes after the accident.
The driver who was still in a state of panic then realised a commotion had started when a group of unknown assailants approached the tow truck men.
"Once the driver came out from his vehicle, he witnessed the scuffle and the two groups were seen punching each other.
"The driver was still clueless on what triggered the fight," Megat Mohamad said today.
The situation became worse when another vehicle appeared and some assailants armed with machetes and wooden blocks started to assault the tow truck men.
Megat Mohamad said the four victims aged between 20 and 26 suffered multiple injuries – a broken leg, multiple slash wounds on both legs, hands and waist.
The victims have been warded at University Malaya Medical Centre, Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Sunway Medical Centre.
It is learnt that the three individuals, including the 24-year-old driver, were arrested the following day and have been remanded until March 3 to facilitate investigations.
"Police are on the hunt for two more suspects," he said, adding that a vehicle was also seized by police.
A police source said the incident occurred following a misunderstanding between the groups and the driver was arrested following an initial investigation which showed he was also involved in the commotion.
