PETALING JAYA: The family of missing Pastor Raymond Koh Keng Joo has appealed to the police to investigate the case under abduction with intent to murder.
Speaking to theSun, Koh's son, Jonathan Koh, 32, said he had filed a second police report following the first missing person report on Feb 14.
"We are well aware of the ongoing probe. However, it has been 14 days since my father went missing and there has been no response even after offering a reward for information leading to his rescue.
"Thus, we have appealed to the police to investigate the case under the offence of kidnapping or abducting with intent to murder," he said.
Section 3 (1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961 carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat, who heads the task force to search for Koh, said the investigation is under abduction.
"The probe is still in progress it is under abduction ... Not missing person," he told theSun.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on Feb 22 said police have recorded statements from eight individuals in the course of the investigations.
Koh was abducted on Feb 13 by a group of masked men along Jalan SS4B/10, Petaling Jaya, less than 100m from the police housing complex.
He was driving a car bearing the licence plate ST 5515 D.
The family is offering a reward of RM100,000 for information on his whereabouts.
In 2011, Koh, who was executive director of community group Harapan Komuniti, ran into issues with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) when he organised a multi-racial charity event attended by Muslims and non-Muslims at the Damansara Utama Methodist Church here.
The event was disrupted when Jais accompanied by police raided the church following claims that the organising group had held the gathering in an attempt to allegedly entice Muslims to convert to Christianity.
The issue fizzled out due to lack of evidence on the allegations.
