“Coming from a petroleum engineering background, I realised the need to increase my range of abilities, especially after the downturn in the oil and gas industry. Therefore, I chose to pursue my postgraduate studies to increase my options.
“Strategy has always been a passion of mine, and coincidentally, Heriot-Watt offered the only course that matched what I was looking for, so it was an easy decision,” he said.
He noted that in Heriot-Watt, not only are the teaching staff experts in their own right, but the university also provides vast access to resources.
“Heriot-Watt has placed itself amongst the ranks of the top universities from which companies like to choose their business professionals from, and that, in itself is an advantage.
“More importantly, my postgraduate degree is dually accredited by the Chartered Management Institute of the United Kingdom, a body whose qualifications have become very sought after around the world,” he said.
“What’s more, my course also equipped me with various skills, from looking into competitive strategy, change management to quality management and project management, all of which are valuable skills in today’s business environment,” Pedro added.
