BUKIT MERTAJAM: Three robbers armed with a hammer and a pistol-like object robbed a jewellery shop off its jewellery worth about RM150,000 in Jalan Pasar here today.
Central Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police were alerted of the incident about 12.35pm.
Initial investigations, he added, revealed that the three men clad in black jackets and wearing black gloves rushed into the shop, and one of them threatened the shop worker with a pistol-alike object while another shattered the glass showcases with a hammer.
"They then quickly scooped six trays of jewellery and escaped on two motorcycles," he added in a statement.
Azhan said investigators were combing the scene for clues while the shop's closed-circuit television (CCTV) would also be checked.
He added they hoped to nab the robbers soon.
