Police prevent candlelight vigil for missing pastor (Updated)

SHAH ALAM: About 500 people have turned up for a candle light vigil for pastor Raymond Koh, who was abducted in broad daylight on Feb 13.
Raymond's wife, Susanna Liew, thanked all who attended and once again pleaded to the abductors for her husband's safe and immediate release.
"Please release him, he's a good man. He has been helping the poor, the marginalised, the needy. He helped those affected by HIV/AIDS.
"I really appreciate that all of you are here. We are all praying. Let him be safe and we will meet him again soon," she told the crowd while barely holding back tears.
Islamic Welfare NGO Ikram's Selangor chairman Norazmi Mat Noh said it is strange that there has been no news of Raymond and also questioned the police's silence.
"It has been more than 2 weeks and the police seems to have no leads. He is a learned man of religion he was taken in full view of CCTVs.
"I think if the person abducted is a Muslim imam, then it will be all over the news in an instant. But the police has been silent," Norazmi said.
He added that he did not know Raymond or his family but came to show support as Ikram had collaborated an affiliated NGO, Harapan Komuniti, before.
Retiree John Pak similarly questioned the police's competence in investigating in the abduction and said he was there in principle.
"It is impossible that they do not know what is going on. If someone can be abducted in such a manner then what is the state of public security?" he said.
Raymond was abducted near SMK Kelana Jaya by a group of masked men in between 10:30am and 10.45am in what seemed to be a highly organised effort.
The group started gathering at about 8pm but was prevented from assembling at the Shah Alam Police District Headquarters (IPD) by cops, who closed off all access roads to the station.
They instead gathered at the Seksyen 9 commercial centre near Jalan Tengku Ampuan Zabedah where a group prayer was held.
Parit Buntar MP Datuk Mujahid Yusof Rawa hopes the abduction was not religiously motivated as Raymond had received death threats before.
"That is what I fear, religious hatred is the worst. If he broke the law and was proselitysing Muslims, take him to court.
"Do not take the law into your own hands in the name of religion, that is wrong. That is not Islam," Mujahid said, adding that he is willing to speak to the abductors if it was indeed religiously motivated.
He was referring to an incident where the Selangor Islamic Religious Enforcement Department (JAIS) raided a thanksgiving dinner organised by Harapan Komuniti in 2011.
Raymond was accused of alleged proselitysation and received bullets in the mail following the incident.
Bukit Gasing assemblyman R. Rajiv questioned if the blockades were necessary as the vigil was evidently peaceful and they should have engaged the people instead.
Also present was Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh, Seri Andalas assemblyman Dr. Xavier Jayakumar, Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen, and human rights lawyer Andrew Khoo.
The group dispersed at 9.40pm without incidences.
