Berjaya Hotels, Prima Air ink partnership deal

REDANG: Berjaya Hotels & Resorts (BHR), which is looking to promote its two resorts in Redang Island as a key holiday destination, has entered into a partnership with Prima Air to provide chartered flights between Subang Airport and Redang Island.
The two resorts are the premium The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort, and the more affordable Redang Island Resort.
Prima Air is owned by diversified group Halim Mazmin Bhd’s executive chairman Tan Sri Halim Mohammad and his wife, Puan Sri Mazmin Noordin.
The partnership was signed on Friday at The Taaras, between BHR chief executive officer Hanley Chew and Prima Air director of business development Irman Abdul Shukor.

Under the partnership, BHR will be able to charter flights for its guests to The Taaras, under special travel packages beginning next month. Guests will be able to make bookings online either from BHR or Prima Air.
They will be flown to the island using Prima Air’s Cessna Grand Caravan EX light aircraft, which can seat up to 10 persons.
Speaking to local media, Chew said: “This is an important milestone for The Taaras, and BHR wants to promote it as an exciting, prime holiday destination.”
He added that BHR was looking at providing various travel packages to cater to various guests, starting from a 3D2N package from RM2,000 inclusive of accommodation, return flight, and food and beverage.

“We are proud to be a part of this venture. In the past, Berjaya Air used to provide flights to Redang Island. We are now proud to fill in the void, and to provide that last-mile connectivity to this beautiful island,” Irman said.

Chew also said that BHR was in talks with Prima Air to provide further chartered flights to other BHR resorts, and between Singapore’s Seletar airport and BHR’s resort in Tioman. adding that BHR wanted the holiday experience to begin from the airport itself.
And because Prima Air is a charter airline, there is no fixed schedule for flights, Irman said.
“Currently the plan is to have flights three days a week, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, to and from the island. This is of course subject to change depending upon demand and weather conditions.”
