KL to host inaugural Social Economy and Investment Conference next week

    PETALING JAYA: Agensi Inovasi Malaysia (AIM), Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre Bhd (MaGIC), Social Entrepreneurship, Youth Trust Foundation (myHarapan) and British Council will organise the inaugural Social Economy and Investment Conference 2017 (SEIC2017) at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur, on March 13 and 14, 2017.
    In a joint statement yesterday, they said the conference will provide the participants a platform to explore various aspects of the booming segment of people-centric economy and identify investment opportunities attached in line with the 11th Malaysia Plan.
    The conference aims to create a shared understanding between policymakers and influencers from different sectors of the benefits and potential on both government and civil society of developing a social economy.
    The themes chosen for the two-day conference are 'Enablers: The Building Blocks of a Social Economy' and 'Unleashing Systemic Change for a Social Economy'.
    Among the topics that will be discussed are Global Trends and the Role of Government; A New Paradigm of a Vibrant Social Economy; and Mobilising Capital for Greater Good.
    Included in the programme is the second part of the Asean Social Business Dialogue (ASBD), a satellite event under myHarapan. ASBD II is a follow-up to part one of the dialogue that was conducted in May, 2016 which focuses on two main topics, namely, the challenges faced by grassroots social entrepreneurs and industry best practices in developing the social entrepreneurship ecosystem in Malaysia.
