Man detained for offensive Facebook posting against Sultan of Johor

JOHOR BARU: Police last night detained a man believed to have made an offensive posting in Facebook against Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

Johor police chief Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the man aged 58 years was nabbed at a restaurant near Dataran Perpaduan Bercham Raya, Ulu Kinta in Ipoh, Perak about 11.30pm.

In a statement today, he said the posting allegedly made by the man could potentially undermine harmony and public order.

He said police also seized a sim card and a mobile phone from the suspect, who is being investigated under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. — Bernama
